The man, the myth and the legend
High Chaparral’s legendary founder Bengt “Big Bengt” Erlandsson (1922–2016) was a man who did what pleased him. As early as 1966, he opened the gates to his High Chaparral. A unique place, created by a unique man who with a large portion of stubbornness, imagination and perseverance made his dream come true. What was originally a manifesto for freedom is today one of the country’s most famous tourist attractions. So don’t miss the documentary about him in the Big Bengt Mini Museum. Here you can also see his beloved horse Snuffy, one of the original towers from Fort Erlandsson and several cars that were part of what was formerly the Big Bengt Museum.
