With Halloween, High Chaparral continues its focus on year-round activities

- We will have parts of the park open during Halloween and, just like last year, organize the zombie race "Run for your lives". Then we have a Christmas table with Rydell & Quick as artists, increased conference activities and soon also a new museum. High Chaparral will position itself as a tourist destination and meeting provider all year round.

Lotta Edin Johansson, CEO of High Chaparral, talks about the theme park's intention to be a local and national attraction 12 months a year.
- Many people think that High Chaparral only operates during the summer. Of course, it is our most important period, but the activities and events during the other months are increasing.

Last year's successful Halloween in the park and the zombie race "Run for your lives" will of course be continued this year. This year they hope for many visitors to the park and at least 1000 runners with nerves of steel.
- For the adults it will be both a tough and scary course, but of course we have a slightly scary variant for the little ones. If you like Halloween, a Wild West town full of zombies could hardly be better," concludes Lotta Edin Johansson.

High Chaparral invests in new Big Bengt Museum

- Now Big Bengt and the entrepreneurship he stood for will get a really nice museum. He and all that he stood for are really worth it.

High Chaparral , 1994 Emil Erlandsson, grandson of Big Bengt and owner of High Chaparral with his brother Philip Erlandsson, talks about the theme park's big plans. The small museum dedicated to the legendary founder of the Wild West park, Bengt Erlandsson, known throughout Sweden as Big Bengt, has been somewhat overshadowed for many years. Everything that Big Bengt acquired over the years has been collected and displayed here without any real focus. That is about to change.
– We want to highlight Big Bengt's great interests and what he was passionate about – emigration from Småland, the pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship. There are lots of interesting things among everything he bought that are not given the space they deserve.

Big Bengt was not only an entrepreneur and visionary, he was also a businessman. If a good deal came along, he was reluctant to pass it up. That's why some of what's now in the museum has little to do with Big Bengt or is of any interest to visitors. - To make it really good, we're getting help from Ingmarie Halling, who is
for ABBA the Museum in Stockholm. We have also hired bsv architects & engineers who have worked with Vandalorum, Filmbyn Småland and Källemo.

Emil Erlandsson emphasizes that it is important for them that the museum finds a good balance between entertainment, history and learning. This is also how they think about the park.
- "We have a responsibility for both the park and the museum. The park is of course primarily a theme park, but we are constantly working to tell the story of the Wild West. That's how we see the museum too.

Today, many of Big Bengt's objects are gathering dust. It has therefore been decided that anything that has no genuine connection to Big Bengt as a person or value to the museum will be auctioned off. The money raised will be invested in the new museum, which is expected to be completed in May 2020. "Big Bengt has meant a lot to the community, so it's only right that he gets a really nice museum.

The assignment to manage the auction has been given to Helsingborgs Auktionsverk. The auction and viewing will take place in October. Cecilia Öhrn Bonard, branch manager at Helsingborgs Auktionsverk, is convinced that the auction will attract great interest.

- Big Bengt is a household name. I also think that the press surrounding the new museum will help. What High Chaparral is doing is truly a cultural achievement.

We are the best theme park in the Nordic region, again this year

For the second year in a row, we have been voted the best theme park in the Nordic region by the best jury imaginable, namely families with children.

Lucky Luke gets its own arena

Kids love Lucky Luke and the Dalton brothers, so now they get their own arena surrounded by a small town.
The arena will host a show twice a day and when there is no show, the children can play in the area.

Around the arena are the houses that are part of the show - the bank, the hotel, the sheriff's office and, of course, a jail for the Dalton brothers. When Shows is not on, children can play in the grounds and in the houses.

For us at High Chaparral it is very important to offer both professional Shows and organized activities as well as space for the children's own antics and games. We take children's need to play seriously. High Chaparral is an experience for all the senses.

New characters this summer

Now Lucky Luke, the Dalton Brothers and Zorro will join them. This summer, our visitors will also meet Annie Oakley and Billy the Kid.

Annie Oakley has been around before, but now she's taking on a more prominent role in the park. Bill the Kid, on the other hand, is a new character in the park and this summer you can join them on mischievous but educational adventures.
