High booking pressure at High Chaparral
Interest in visiting High Chaparral this summer is high. The Wild West park in Småland is seeing a significant increase in bookings compared to the same period in 2020 and is introducing a daily visitor limit.
In February, the number of bookings increased by over 50% compared to February 2020 and the forecast for March is that the number of bookings will be more than double compared to the same month last year. Booking pressure is particularly high for July.
- "We are extremely pleased with the great interest ahead of the summer. With a traditionally large number of returning visitors, we also see it as a sign that the park was perceived as safe last year, despite covid-19, and that many now choose to come back this year, says Mathias Bergendahl, CEO of the High Chaparral theme park.
The 2020 summer season was marked by COVID-19 and the High Chaparral theme and theater park is now preparing for a similar summer with continued restrictions. Already in September last year, High Chaparral started to develop solutions to further disperse visitors in the park and actively work to counteract crowding, which this year also includes a limit on the number of visitors per day. The measures include an extension of the park.
- Due to the pressure we see, we are already preparing for a limitation. We are awaiting a final decision on a possible visitor ceiling for us as a theme park, but can state that the Public Health Authority's proposal of 1 person per 20 square meters is relatively close to the booking limit we introduced on our own initiative last summer, says Mathias Bergendahl.
On Saturday, May 22, High Chaparral opens its doors for the 2021 summer season.
