Snuffy got the job after tough auditions
Until now, High Chaparral's characters have been of the two-legged variety. Now they are joined by Snuffy - a delightfully mischievous and friendly Shetland pony.
- We apologize for our other characters in the park, because although they are all very popular with our visitors, we believe that Snuffy will find a very special place in the hearts of both old and young," says High Chaparral's Park Manager and Vice President Mattias Tambour.
The idea of Snuffy has been around for a long time. The idea is that Snuffy will have a relatively free role. She will pop up wherever there is something funny going on.
- Yes, that's it. She has already shown a lovely temperament. She got her name from High Chaparral's founder Bengt Erlandsson's favorite horse, which he had for many years.
In memory of Alf Erlandsson (1954-2020)

Anyone who has ever been to High Chaparral remembers Alf Erlandsson. He was High Chaparral's and the world's most robbed bank manager. In one day he could be robbed no less than 600 times - always with a smile on his face. And that smile, open mind and warm welcome is something all of us who got to know Alf remember and will miss. As the son of the park's founder, Bengt "Big Bengt" Erlandsson, High Chaparral was close to Alf's heart. He was always the first one there in the morning, whistling a happy tune, and often he was the last to leave. Alf always went his own way, but he never got in anyone else's way. If you wanted to follow him, you were welcome to do so - Alf wanted the best for everyone. Now he has gone his own way again. Walk in peace.
The best theme park in the Nordics 2020 - best again!
This year we became the Best Theme Park in the Nordic region when the votes for the Great Children's Holiday Award were counted. For the sixth year in a row, High Chaparral is either the best theme park in the Nordic region or Sweden. We are very proud and happy about that. Especially when the jury is the best you can imagine, namely families with children. We thank everyone who voted for us and promise that we will continue to do everything we can to make our visitors feel at home in the Wild West. The competition is organized by Barnsemester.se
There's a new Sheriff in town
Today we welcome our new CEO Mathias Bergendahl to the world's wildest theme park.
- Coming in as CEO when all the preparations for the summer are in full swing is both inspiring and educational. You get a good understanding of all the parts and attractions of the park and the area. Right now, the focus is on the new adventure golf course, the rebuilding of the campsite and the recruitment of actors and park staff.
In recent years, Mathias has been Head of Communications and Marketing at the World Culture Museums, which include the East Asian Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the Mediterranean Museum and the World Culture Museum.
- Now I will be part of a new adventure. A wild one, I hope," laughs Mathias.
Welcome to High Chaparral Mathias.
High Chaparral prepares for thousands of visitors
- There is a lot going on in the park even when it is closed. Right now we're working on an adventure golf course, a new cabin area and the expansion of Restaurant Bryggan. And in the spring we will be introducing new exciting activities to the park.
Mattias Tambour, Park Manager at High Chaparral, talks about all the construction going on in the park to prepare for next season. With high visitor numbers this summer and the success of Halloween, they feel that the park's long-term strategy of being both an amusement and theme park for families with children and a meeting place for people who like the Wild West, is just right.
- We are naturally loyal to the Wild West. It is our origin and what we are passionate about. But it should be a Wild West for the whole family.
The big changes for next year are a 9-hole adventure golf course on the campsite. They are also expanding the Restaurant Bryggan at High Chaparral's swimming lake, updating and relocating a cottage area and building a new service building. All to ensure the well-being and enjoyment of nearly 170,000 visitors.
- Visitors to Liseberg or Gröna Lund can always find accommodation. It is more difficult for our visitors. That's why we take responsibility for ensuring that they have a great stay with us outside the park area through accommodation, swimming, activities and restaurants," concludes Mattias Tambour.
We are nominated in 2020
Proud and proud of this year's nomination, winning two years in a row (the Nordic region's best theme park) and three previous second places only defeated by Legoland, we want to snatch the whole victory again this year, so come on now all cowboys, help us by going in and voting.
Barnsemester.se organizes the competition Stora Barnsemesterpriset and we are nominated in the category "Best theme park in the Nordic region" and "Best family fun in Sweden". Click and vote for High Chaparral
